Fionn Mac Owl

Fionn Mac Owl

There was great excitement at The Model School today when our newly carved wooden owl was officially christened. The school was honoured to welcome The Deputy Mayor of Limerick, Cllr. Sarah Kiely to announce the owl’s name. A shortlist of suitable names as Gaeilge was drawn up and all classes were invited to vote for their favourite moniker. The task of revealing the winning name fell to Councillor Kiely today and the excitement among the pupils was palpable as they waited to hear if their favoured name had been selected. Ultimately Cllr. Kiely revealed that ‘Fionn Mac Owl’ was the children’s most popular choice. All agreed that it was a very clever name as it paid tribute to the wisdom of Fionn Mac Cumhail and of course the legendary wise old owl. The children clapped and cheered as they welcomed the latest addition to their garden.
