Electronic Classrooms

The Model school is a pioneer in the world of I.T. in education. We have the most modern teaching resources available.
Eight of our classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards which enhance the children’s learning experience to a huge extent.

We are the first school in Ireland to have “Educlick” software installed. Each class-pupil has a “clicker” which can be used to answer multiple choice surveys.

In addition to this, we are fortunate to have 30 laptops.

Spórt Sa Mhodhscoil

Bíonn deis ag buachaillí na Modhscoile peil, iománaíocht agus rugbaí a imirt. Tá traenálaí den scoth againn, Eamonn Creegan agus Eddie Price ina measc. Faigheann na cailíní seans peil agus cispheil a imirt.
Déanann gach páiste ó Rang a haon ar aghaidh ceachtanna snámha ar feadh sé seachtaine i UL gach uile bhliain.
I measc ár n-iar-scoláirí atá cáiliúil sa spórt, tá Paul O’Connell, Gerry Flannery, Eamonn Creegan agus Eugene Mc Govern.

Sport

Our boys are invited to take part in football, hurling and rugby. We are fortunate to have excellent trainers, amongst which are Eamonn Creegan agus Eddie Price.
Our girls can partake in football and basketball.
First class upwards attend a six-week training course in swimming in UL each year. We have many extremely competent swimmers who have won medals at Munster level.
Amongst our more famous sporting past-pupils are Paul O’Connell, Gerry Flannery, Eamonn Creegan and Eugene Mc Govern.

Eolaíocht sa Mhodhscoil

For over a decade we have presented an annual science exhibition for pupils, parents and invited public. This years theme was “Thuas San Aer” and culminated in a trip to the Science Museum in London for the competition winners.

Next years theme will be announced after Christmas and our exhibition will take place in April. This year An Mhodhscoil was awarded a certificate of science excellence which is proudly displayed inside the main door.

Teangacha Eorpacha

Tá deis iontach á fáil ag daltaí na Modhscoile teangacha Eorpacha a fhoghlaim i rith am scoile ó Rang 1 go dtí Rang 6.

European Languages

The Model School pupils are afforded the wonderful opportunity to learn European languages during class time. These lessons apply to First class to Sixth class.

Gníomhaíochtaí Breischuraclama

Tá ranganna Fichille, Damhsa seit agus Labhairt & Drámaíocht á reáchtáil againn i ndiaidh am scoile.
Maidir le spórt, bíonn traenáil cispheile, iománaíochta, peile agus rugbaí againn freisin.

After-School Activities

After-school activities include Chess, Set-Dancing and Speech & Drama. We also provide basketball, hurling, football and rugby training.

Carthanachta

Tá an t-uafás airgead bailithe ag an Modhscoil ar son carthanachta éagsúla thar na blianta.

1. Go háitiúil, bíonn an-áthas orainn cabhrú le Fr. Gerry Daly am Nollag. Déanann sé obair iontach ar son daoine easpacha na cathrach.
2. Ghlac 311 páiste páirt san MS ReadaThon chun airgead a bhailiú le haghaidh Multiple Sclerosis i mbliana. Léigh siad 3,893 leabhar eatarthu agus bhailigh siad €13,563.
3. Gach bliain, léiríonn ár bpáistí cé chomh mórchroíoch agus fial is atá siad nuair a iarrtar orthu na boscaí bróga a líonadh don Samaritan’s Purse “Operation Christmas Child”. Sheolamar 240 bosca chuig páistí míbhuntáisteacha thar lear i gcomhair Nollaig 2006!
4. Tá suim speisialta againn i sráidbhaile darbh’ ainm Ankaful i Ghana. Go dáta, tá €4500 cnuasaithe againn chun dul chun chinn a dhéanamh ar bhunscoil míbhuntáiste ann.

Charity Work

The Model has raised tremendous amounts of money for various charities.

1. At a local level, the Model has been delighted to assist Fr. Gerry Daly annually with his Christmas campaign to help the needy of Limerick.
2. 311 pupils took part in the MS ReadaThon this year to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis. They read 3,893 books in total and raised €13,563.
3. Each year, our pupils show their generosity of spirit when asked to get involved in the Samaritan’s Purse “Operation Christmas Child”. Thanks to the Model school pupils, a total of 240 shoeboxes full of gifts made their way to less-fortunate children abroad this year.
4. We have also adopted the village of Ankaful in Ghana as a beneficiary of our fund-raising efforts. To date, we have raised €4500 to help develop a primary school which in great need of funding.
